Already the brand for surfers and skateboarders, Quiksilver's expansion into winter sports was a question mark.

Cercone Brown helped launch the first annual Natural Selection snowboard Invitational, turning that question mark into a period… a big one. Hosted by snowboarding great Travis Rice in his hometown of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the event celebrated the true soul of snowboarding and Rice's personal philosophy: no trail grooming, no snowmaking, nothing fake. Just invite the best boarders from around the world to share and compete with nothing more than the mountain, their boards and their incredible talent.

The world's best boarders and the entire snowboarding community turned out like crazy – fans, bloggers, locals and the industry's top journalists – putting Quiksilver squarely on the snowboarding map in a way that was met as a breath of fresh air for its growing network of retail partners.
Result:
Independent retail distribution is at an all-time high, and in only one year, the Quiksilver Natural Selection has become one of a handful of A-list events on the pro circuit. And, exposure for the Quiksilver brand was outstanding, with branded content broadcast from 35,000 websites in more than 20 countries, broadcast TV news coverage reaching more than 2 million viewers, print coverage garnering nearly 10 million impressions, including Men's Journal, Maxim and Sports Illustrated, and daily online coverage generating 80,000 unique visitors each day to Quiksilver's website.
